WASHINGTON – At the start of Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate, Stand Up America Founder and President Sean Eldridge released the following statement:
“The evidence to be presented in this trial overwhelmingly shows that Donald Trump led white supremacist rioters to attack the U.S. Capitol on January 6. If that isn’t an offense worthy of immediate conviction and disqualification, Republican senators—who were themselves targets of this insurrection—must ask themselves what is.
“At the end of this trial, any senator that votes against convicting the Insurrectionist-in-Chief will be forever remembered as enabling Donald Trump’s attempt to overthrow our democracy and the will of the people—and they will be held accountable by voters.”
Stand Up America drove 60,000 constituent calls to lawmakers from every state urging them to immediately vote to impeach Trump, including tens of thousands of calls to Republican senators in recent weeks. The group will drive additional constituent pressure targeting Senate Republicans as the trial continues.
In 2019 and 2020, the group was one of the leading grassroots organizations pressuring Congress to impeach and remove Trump from office, driving more than 375,000 constituent calls to Congress.
